"THE HUMAN LIGHT"
Artemide has been a worldwide leader in lighting design with an unparalleled commitment to technological innovation, research and human interaction. Established in 1959 by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza, the company specializes in the manufacture of lighting designed by architects and has created award-winning collaborations with some of the world’s most talented designers including Naoto Fukasawa, David Chipperfield, Zaha Hadid, Jean Nouvel, Karim Rashid and Herzog & De Meuron.
Among Artemide’s extensive product line are two icons of modern Italian design: the Tizio Desk Lamp designed by Richard Sapper in 1972 and the Tolomeo Desk Lamp designed by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina in 1986, both of which are included in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art.

EMPATIA Carlotta de Bevilacqua, Paola di Arianello, 2013 |
|
| Empatia is marriage of art and science. The hand-blown glass diffuser displays an ombré progression of opacity from transparent to frosted from base to top allowing efficient light diffusion without glare. The white-painted bottom plate within the diffuser reflects light created by the internal LED “pipe”. | | |

TIZIO Richard Sapper, 1972
A display of aesthetic and functional balance, Tizio remains a modern design marvel.
Introduced in 1972, the lamp is built with two counterweights allowing the user to direct the light at will. The lamp adjusts with a pull or push of the hand and stays in place as set. Eliminating the need for extraneous wires and enhancing a clean aesthetic, Tizio’s arms conduct electricity to the bulb which was an early introduction of halogen to an industry outside of automotive. A small reflector works with the light source to provide highly concentrated light.
A multiple award winner, Tizio is included in MoMA's permanent collection, amongst others. |

PAUSANIA Ettore Sottsass, 1983 |
|
| Originally designed in the 80’s era by Ettore Sottsass, Pausania has become a masterpiece of the design of the twentieth century. It has become part of the permanent design collections of world renowned museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Steming from the visionary identity of Artemide, it reminds of a modern interpretation of the classic banker’s lamp. | | |

LE PETITE FLOOR Quaglio Simonelli, Manuela Simonelli, 2016 |
|
| An archetypal lampshade balanced on a tilted stem, La Petite displays exquisite geometry.
A composition of simple forms matched with technologically advanced materials, this lamp clearly conveys the essence of Artemide. The lightweight plastic lampshade contains two diffusers that produce a pleasant soft direct and indirect light. The lampshade connects with the angled aluminium stem with minimal support whereby the tilted stem is counterbalanced by the lampshade’s volume.

CHLOROPHILIA Ross Lovegrove, 2016 |
|
Chlorophilia is the synthesis between Ross Lovegrove’s signature approach using organic shapes and Artemide’s mastering of the latest lighting technology. The light coming from a powerful LED COB gives life to the leaf composition, interacting and completing the space around it.
Inspired by the logic and beauty of nature, Chlorophilia defines a new light condition in space, casting its captivating spell through projected leaf patterns of light and shadow onto the ceiling.

MELAMPO MEGA
Adrien Gardère, 2000 |
|
Melampo’s functionality lies in its adaptable and flexible form. Its shade allows a beautiful metamorphosis into three positions to meet the need of any light direction or focus: straight downward light, slanted downward light, or upward light. The mini table and wall versions adjust to two positions: full upward and slanted downward. Melampo’s shape is reminiscent of the timeless go-to lamp shape. Composed of a zamac base, a matte finish, and a satin polycarbonate lampshade, Melampo transcends time.
